R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Reverend Martin J. Walker has been honored for
his many achievements and outstanding community service through his
induction into the Counting My Blessings Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Walker has served 49 years in full-time
ministry, preaching in Beeville, San Antonio, Seguin, Columbus, and
Austin; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is known for his
singing stamina and mellifluous voice; he is a charter member of
Counting My Blessings and has been responsible for the group's
musical arrangements for the past 25 years; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Charlton Pollard High School in
Beaumont, Reverend Walker went on to attend St. Philip's College,
Southwest Texas State University, Perkins School of Theology, and
Southern Methodist University in Dallas; and
WHEREAS, This devoted family man is the husband of Annye L.
Walker; through the years their close-knit family has grown to
include three children, Bertha Redd, Allen Walker, and Tanya
Walker, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his active involvement with Counting
My Blessings, Reverend Walker is also a member of the Lions Club and
the Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, Martin Walker is a man of rare faith and commitment
who has dedicated his life to encouraging his fellowman and he is
truly worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Reverend Martin J. Walker on his
induction into the Counting My Blessings Hall of Fame and extend to
him sincere best wishes in all future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Reverend Walker as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
