R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Men and women across South Texas lost a beloved neighbor with the passing of Cristino M. "Tino" Madrigal on May 24, 2002, at the age of 55; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Madrigal was born in Elsa on January 11, 1947; he served as the deputy sheriff in Aransas and San Patricio counties before embarking on a career as a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department that would span nearly two decades; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman approached his position with commitment, integrity, and courage; his unwavering dedication won the respect of his colleagues and served as an inspiration for those just beginning their careers in the field; and WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Madrigal filled his life with the thing he loved most--people; he volunteered countless hours coaching youngsters in the Delta Pony Baseball League and was an avid dancer, particularly to the upbeat sounds of polka, ranchera, guapango, and chotiz music; and WHEREAS, An active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Mr. Madrigal was a devoted family man and public servant, and while he is greatly missed, his memory lives on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 26 years, Cecilia Robles Madrigal; to his daughters, Carina Jo, Carmen Claudia, and Norma Lisa; to his grandchildren, Angela, Ashley, Christian Gage, Juan Brandon, and Gavin Michael; to his great-granddaughter, Aliyah; to his brothers, Gregorio and Eligio; to his sisters, Esperanza, Hortencia, Janie, and Irma; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cristino M. Madrigal.
