H.R. No. 322


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Morgan's Point lost a beloved neighbor with the passing of Florence King Ostlin on February 2, 2003, at the age of 89; and WHEREAS, A native of Nevada, Missouri, Mrs. Ostlin was born on September 24, 1913; she married Arvid L. "Ozzie" Ostlin on June 16, 1934, and the couple enjoyed a long and devoted union until his passing in 1991; and WHEREAS, After moving to Morgan's Point from Houston, this esteemed woman became actively involved in the community; she served as the city secretary for several years and was a charter member and treasurer for the Morgan's Point Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary; she was also a member of the Extension, Garden, Supper, Fun, and Optimist clubs; and WHEREAS, Named Citizen of the Year in 1997, Mrs. Ostlin was a cherished member of her community, and while she will be greatly missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Florence King Ostlin and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Frank Brauner; to her grandchildren and their spouses, Carrie and Daniel Hogan, Lonnie and Cheryl Brauner, Darrell and Diane Brauner, Kyle and Veneisa Brauner, Karen and Jeff Craig, and Arthur Harley; to her nine great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Florence King Ostlin.
