H.R. No. 329


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America Troop 390 has been actively serving and shaping the young men of Terrell for 55 consecutive years; and WHEREAS, Chartered in 1947, Troop 390 has produced 121 Eagle Scouts, members of the highest attainable rank that is reached by only a small percentage of all who enter the scouting movement; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the First Christian Church of Terrell, Troop 390 is able to camp an average of 30 nights each year and has sent more than 18 crews to Philmont High Adventure Ranch in New Mexico; and WHEREAS, The troop has been recognized for its many accomplishments, receiving the Quality Unit Award for the past 15 years and earning recognition as Outstanding Troop in the State of Texas in 1973; and WHEREAS, Active participants in Boy Scouts of America events, troop members have traveled to Virginia and Idaho for the National Jamboree and attended the National Order of the Arrow conference at Indiana University; on March 12, 2003, the troop will spend the night aboard the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, Troop 390 has benefited the young men of Terrell in myriad ways, equipping them with essential life skills and encouraging the development of character, citizenship, and physical and mental fitness; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the many accomplishments of Boy Scouts of America Troop 390 in Terrell and extend sincere best wishes to the troop's past and present members; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
