R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Jackson Stullken Webb of Elgin on January 7, 2003, at the age of 81, has brought a great loss to the family and friends of this esteemed Texan; and WHEREAS, An Elgin native, Mr. Webb was born on February 15, 1921, to Judge C. W. Webb and Emma Stullken Webb; after graduating from high school as salutatorian of his class, Mr. Webb attended The University of Texas, where he met the love of his life, Zoe Wilcox; and WHEREAS, The couple married in 1942 and shared a long, happy union that was blessed with two loving daughters and a grandson; and WHEREAS, This admirable gentleman bravely served his country in World War II; called to active duty with the United States Army, Mr. Webb was seriously wounded in Germany, and, returning stateside, he overcame physical adversity to complete his law degree in 1947 and become a partner in the law firm of his father and mother, Webb & Webb; Mr. Webb later served as Bastrop County attorney and City of Elgin attorney; and WHEREAS, Active in numerous civic and professional organizations, he was president of the Bastrop County Bar Association and the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Williamson County Bar Association and the Elgin Historical Association, and adjutant of the American Legion; and WHEREAS, Mr. Webb was a devout member of Elgin First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of stewards and was Sunday school superintendent, a member of the choir, a lay speaker, a sponsor of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship, and a teacher of the Judge Webb Bible Class for 20 years; and WHEREAS, Jackson Webb served as an inspiration to all who knew him, and he will long be remembered for his integrity, dedication, and wisdom; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of Jackson Stullken Webb and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Zoe Webb; to his daughters, Linda Sue Webb and Patricia Bade; to his grandson, Nicholas Alexander Bade; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jackson Stullken Webb.
