R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Brent Kyle Bischoff of Corpus Christi were profoundly saddened by the untimely passing of this extraordinary young man on December 29, 1997; and WHEREAS, Born into a Navy family on May 19, 1979, at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, Mr. Bischoff was baptized at the Naval Air Station Chapel in Norfolk, Virginia; he was later confirmed into the Lutheran Church at Dreifaltigkeits Church in Worms, Germany; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bischoff lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia, until the age of seven, when his family moved to Stuttgart, Germany; he attended third, fourth, and fifth grades at the Patch American Elementary School on the United States Army post, and while there he acquired a lasting interest in soccer; returning to Virginia in 1988, Mr. Bischoff continued to play soccer as well as street hockey, and he developed his talent for art; and WHEREAS, In 1990, the Bischoff family moved back to Germany, and during this stay the young man nurtured a deeper connection to his ancestral homeland; he formed many lifelong friendships, discovered the beauty found in the vast German forests and mountains, and learned alpine skiing in the mountains of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bischoff accumulated an array of experiences in Germany, including further evolving his gift for art under the tutelage of his art teacher at Patch American High School; he traveled to the Czech Republic to play baseball and competed on the Patch Barracks youth soccer team, which won the U.S. Forces All-Europe Soccer Championship in 1992; in addition, he enjoyed skateboarding, in-line skating, and playing the guitar; and WHEREAS, When his family returned to the United States and moved to Corpus Christi in 1994, Mr. Bischoff attended Mary Carroll High School, where his personable and outgoing character enabled him to make numerous lasting friendships; under the guidance of his art teacher, Lynda Jones, he pursued his interest in art and was awarded a college scholarship; he also explored his musical talent, with a special affinity for Ska music, and formed a band called The Special Guests; and WHEREAS, A good and loyal son, Mr. Bischoff held a special bond with his younger brother, Kurt, with whom he shared many happy times, and those memories will be cherished forever; and WHEREAS, Brent is remembered for his smile, his love of life, and his many talents; a leader and a friend, he was selfless and dignified, and his spirit will continue to live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Brent Kyle Bischoff and that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of his family: to his parents, Chris and Patricia Bischoff; to his brother, Kurt Bischoff; to his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bischoff; to his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glennon; and to his other relatives and numerous friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Brent Kyle Bischoff.
