R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In conjunction with Black History Month, the San
Antonio Express-News has recognized Hattie Brock of the Alamo City
as an Unsung Hero for her many contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, The great-great-granddaughter of a slave, Ms. Brock
has a passion for genealogy, encouraging children at San Antonio's
Jack and Jill Club to pursue their ancestry and promoting
forgiveness for the transgressions of the past; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Brock is actively involved with the African
American Genealogy and Historical Society; she devotes much of her
time to her nine children, 33 grandchildren, and 19
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Ms. Brock has
given freely of her time and talents to many worthy initiatives and
she is truly deserving of the title Unsung Hero; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Hattie Brock of San Antonio on
being named an Unsung Hero by the San Antonio Express-News and
commend her for her contributions to her community; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Brock as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
