R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Community Health Centers
(TACHC) and its member clinics are rendering exceptional service in
addressing the health needs of residents throughout the State of
Texas; and
WHEREAS, There is a health professional shortage in counties
designated as medically underserved areas, and hundreds of Texas
families receive preventive health care and ongoing treatment from
TACHC clinics; the committed staffs of United Medical Centers, Vida
y Salud Health Systems, and South Texas Rural Health Services,
which are located in the House District 80 counties of Maverick,
Zavala, Kinney, Dimmit, and La Salle, provide high-quality health
care to adults and children regardless of patients' health status,
insurance coverage, or ability to pay; and
WHEREAS, The TACHC clinics offer treatment in such
specialities as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal
medicine, and family practice; further, some facilities are
equipped to provide clients with laboratory, pharmacy, radiology,
and WIC services, as well as family planning, HIV/AIDS testing and
counseling, social services, health education, nutrition
counseling, and transportation assistance; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit TACHC serves as the primary care
association for the state; the organization advocates in behalf of
its member clinics at the state and national levels and provides
help with grant-writing, pharmacy and lab contracts, recruitment
and retention programs, and other technical matters; and
WHEREAS, The staffs of TACHC and its member clinics are
committed to maintaining and improving the health of their fellow
citizens, and their outstanding efforts are indeed deserving of
legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend all those affiliated with the Texas
Association of Community Health Centers and extend to them warmest
wishes for continued success in their vital work.
