R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, After 30 years of dedicated public service, Sergeant Robert Martinez is retiring from the Pharr Police Department; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, Sergeant Martinez was drafted into the United States military and sent to Vietnam, spending four years in service to his country; and WHEREAS, Upon returning home, Sergeant Martinez joined the Pharr Police Department; he worked in the patrol division, as a court bailiff, and as the police supervisor for the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge during his years on the force; and WHEREAS, This respected law enforcement professional holds the distinction of being the first officer to be both hired by and retired from the Pharr Police Department, displaying true dedication to the police force and the people of his community; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Sergeant Martinez has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Socorro, and his children, Lety and Marco; and WHEREAS, This committed officer has made an invaluable contribution to the lives of many people, and it is a great pleasure to wish him well as he begins a new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor Sergeant Robert Martinez on the occasion of his retirement from the Pharr Police Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for a very happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Martinez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
