R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 30th anniversary of the Abilene Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) marks three decades of distinguished service to the community; and WHEREAS, The members of Abilene RSVP provide an array of public services, including mentoring at-risk youth, organizing neighborhood watch programs, teaching English to immigrants, testing drinking water for contaminants, and providing business consultancy to community groups; and WHEREAS, In 2002, the group's 800 members logged more than 150,000 hours of volunteer service, contributing to the success of communities in Taylor, Jones, and Callahan counties; and WHEREAS, Ably led by director Brenda Trojcak, this legion of volunteers continues to solve critical community needs by sharing their gifts of time, talent, and the experiences of a lifetime, and they are truly deserving of special recognition for their commitment and selfless work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Abilene Retired and Senior Volunteer Program on its 30th anniversary and commend its members for their longtime service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Abilene RSVP as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
