R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Since opening its doors on April 24, 1977, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7768 has provided Zapata County veterans and their families with vital services, while its members have given generously of their time and resources to benefit the local community; and WHEREAS, The spirit of public service is kept alive today by these dedicated citizens who have already made great sacrifices in behalf of their fellow Americans; the men and women of Post No. 7768 have banded together in the years following their military service to promote awareness of the important role the military plays in a free society, to educate others about the human costs of armed conflict, and to ensure that the courageous actions of all veterans are accorded the respect that they so richly deserve; and WHEREAS, The members of the Zapata County post were recently called on to overcome a new hardship when their headquarters was heavily damaged by fire; showing the resilience that is their collective trademark, these admirable individuals have emerged from this incident with renewed determination to maintain their bonds of friendship and their service to the community, and their commitment to each other and to their community, state, and nation has only been strengthened; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7768 for its many outstanding contributions to the Zapata County community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for prominent display at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7768 as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
