H.R. No. 416



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, During the Texas Revolution, many Tejanos fought 
bravely to win freedom for Texas and to secure the liberties of its 
people; and
	WHEREAS, The value they placed on political rights and 
self–governance is echoed today in the efforts of the group Texas 
Hispanics Educating on Law and Politics (H.E.L.P.), a nonpartisan 
organization that strives to encourage participation in the 
political process; in addition to providing information about 
issues affecting the state, H.E.L.P. encourages citizens to carry 
on the legacy of those Tejano forefathers by championing the 
political rights of all Texans; and
	WHEREAS, The courageous Tejanos who supported the Texan cause 
with their hearts and souls and at risk of their lives are deserving 
of recognition throughout the state, and this chamber joins 
H.E.L.P. in honoring them and their descendants; now, therefore, be 
it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of those Tejanos who 
helped to achieve Texas independence through their unflinching 
commitment to liberty.
