R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On March 10, 2003, The University of Texas at San Antonio's public budgeting and taxation class is visiting the State Capitol, and this occasion merits special legislative recognition; and WHEREAS, During their visit, the class will observe sessions of the house and senate, as well as a House Appropriations Committee hearing, with the goal of better understanding the state's budget process; and WHEREAS, The class instructor is Sylvia Romo, a CPA, Bexar County tax assessor-collector, and a former state representative of House District 125 in San Antonio, whose experience on the House Ways and Means Committee gives her remarkable insight and experience with regard to the complex issues her students are studying; and WHEREAS, The creation and expenditure of public monies is a complex and enduring challenge at all levels of government and the interest of these exemplary young Texans in addressing those problems is indeed worthy of praise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby welcome the members of The University of Texas at San Antonio's public budgeting and taxation class, with their instructor, Sylvia Romo, to the State Capitol and commend them for their interest in and contributions to this demanding area of government; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
