R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Wichita Falls Independent School District may
take great pride in two of its employees, Renae Gonzalez-Murphy,
public information officer, and Marchuetta Matthews, public
information office assistant, who were recently honored by the
Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) with five awards
at the association's conference in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, TSPRA is dedicated to promoting public schools
through effective communications, and the awards recognize school
communicators for outstanding work in print and electronic media;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Matthews received two Gold Star Awards and Mrs.
Gonzalez-Murphy received a Silver Star Award for invitations that
they created, and, working as a team, the women won two Silver Star
Awards; judges made the awards from more than 800 entries; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez-Murphy is a Wichita Falls native who
graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1987 and went on to
attend Midwestern State University; she is married to Steve Murphy,
the proud mother of Austin and Zack, and a baseball mom who is also
active in civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Matthews is a graduate of Petrolia High School
with 18 years' experience as a graphic design artist; she is
supported in all of her endeavors by her husband Chris Matthews and
her children, Jordan and Jody, and finds some of the inspiration for
her work from the out-of-doors and her love of camping; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez-Murphy and Mrs. Matthews are
noteworthy advocates for the Wichita Falls Independent School
District and are indeed deserving of special recognition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Renae Gonzalez-Murphy and
Marchuetta Matthews of the Wichita Falls Independent School
District for receiving five awards from the Texas School Public
Relations Association and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for Mrs. Gonzalez-Murphy and Mrs. Matthews as an expression of high
esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
