R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of John Robert Thornton on
March 12, 2002, at the age of 24, brought a great loss to the friends
and family of this beloved young man; and
WHEREAS, Born July 19, 1977, Mr. Thornton was a graduate of
Bowie High School and attended Austin Community College and
Southwest Texas State University; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Thornton was a gifted individual who loved
expressing himself through music and who took special pleasure in
time spent playing his guitar; and
WHEREAS, Although taken from those who loved him far too
soon, John Thornton was a positive force in the lives of all those
who were fortunate enough to know him, and his remarkable spirit
lives on in their memories; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Robert Thornton
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
parents, George and Mary Thornton; to his brother, Reece Thornton;
to his grandmother, Pauline Thornton; and to the other relatives
and many friends of this esteemed young Texan; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John
Robert Thornton.
