R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the fine men and women of the law enforcement profession who, by their selfless dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and orderly society; and WHEREAS, Seldom recognized by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant individuals willingly risk their lives each day in order to ensure domestic tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and WHEREAS, Investigator H.O. Scott of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the duties of his office; and WHEREAS, Throughout his seven years and 11 months on the force, Investigator Scott demonstrated meritorious service, loyalty, personal bravery, and self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession; and WHEREAS, Investigator Scott was killed in the line of duty on February 8, 2002, and his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow peace officers, and to the entire community; and WHEREAS, While Investigator Scott is deeply missed, the memory of his heroism will long endure and continue to be a source of inspiration to those who follow in this difficult but essential profession; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Investigator H.O. Scott of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and extend deepest sympathy to his family, to his friends, and to his fellow peace officers; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Investigator H.O. Scott.
