R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On December 27, 2002, Jack and Leonora Slusher celebrated 60 years of marriage with a reception at the Green Tree Country Club in Midland; and WHEREAS, Married in 1942 in Paris, Texas, the couple have enjoyed six decades of wonderful memories together; through the years they have watched their close-knit family grow to include three children, Peggy Cook, Dana Slusher, and Deborah Brookins, and six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Slusher ably served his country with the United States Army during World War II and later began a career in Permian Basin petroleum production that would span 40 years; since his retirement in 1992, he has found time to pursue his hobbies of golf and gardening; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Slusher has been a dedicated homemaker throughout the couple's marriage and is a Gold Life Master of duplicate bridge; and WHEREAS, After 60 years of companionship, this loving couple still cherish spending time together and enjoy attending the First Baptist Church; this joyous union has yielded a relationship built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect, and serves as an inspiration to all who know Mr. and Mrs. Slusher; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jack and Leonora Slusher on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Slusher as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
