R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On January 11, 2003, Jane and Leonard Wood of Midland were the guests of honor at a family dinner held to celebrate their 60 years of marriage; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wood and the former Chloe Jane Columbus were united in matrimony on January 12, 1943, in Corpus Christi, where Mr. Wood was stationed with the United States Navy; and WHEREAS, Together they have raised two sons, Leonard N. Wood, Jr., and Michael C. Wood, and their close-knit family has grown to include five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wood retired from his position as security director of Union Texas Petroleum and remains active in the community through his participation in numerous organizations, including the Grand Lodge of Texas, Acacia Lodge No. 1414, Centennial Lodge No. 1448, Midland Lodge No. 623, Lubbock Scottish Rite, Midland York Rite, and Suez Shrine; Mrs. Wood enjoys her involvement in the Doll Club of the Permian Basin, the Doll Artisan Guild, and the Midland County Extension Service; and WHEREAS, For six decades, Mr. and Mrs. Wood have shared many happy times and treasured family memories, and their joyful union is indeed an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Leonard and Jane Wood on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wood as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
