H.R. No. 454


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Thomas A. and Lois R. Newbold of Midland celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 27, 2002, with a family dinner in Lubbock; and WHEREAS, United in matrimony on January 2, 1943, in Washington, D.C., Mr. and Mrs. Newbold have been blessed with four children, Janet Ellis, Pamela Johansen, Richard Newbold, and David Newbold; they have also proudly welcomed the arrival of 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Newbold moved to Midland in 1946 after having lived a year in Fort Smith, Arkansas; Mr. Newbold was employed by Texas Electric Service Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1982, and Mrs. Newbold worked as a seamstress; and WHEREAS, Valued members of the community, Mr. and Mrs. Newbold are members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church; he volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America, and she is active in Church Women United and is a cofounder of the Celiac Sprue Association; and WHEREAS, These two Texans have built an enduring union filled with many happy times and cherished family memories, and they may reflect with great pride on the life they have made together; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas and Lois Newbold on the joyous occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Newbold as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
