R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is a special event in 
the lives of two people, and it is a privilege to honor Lester and 
Lanell Higgins of Midland on this significant milestone in their 
marriage; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins celebrated their 50th wedding 
anniversary at Westside Baptist Church on October 12, 2002, with a 
reception hosted by their children, James and Patti Higgins, Roy 
and Betty Patterson, Danny and Shirley Owen, Kerry and Leslie 
Laminack, and Philip and Lisa Higgins; their grandchildren, Robert 
and Becca Aron, Caleb Higgins, Nathan and Cassie Patterson, Sharief 
and Shirlinda Savahl, Carol Danford, Daniel Owen, Billy and Michael 
Laminack, and Blake, Alli, Tanner, and Hannah Higgins; and their 
great-grandchildren, Mayli and Owen Savahl; and
	WHEREAS, Since being united in matrimony on October 10, 1952, 
in Pittsburg, California, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins have shared an 
enduring union filled with many happy times and cherished family 
memories; over the years, Mrs. Higgins has been a caring and devoted 
homemaker, and Mr. Higgins has worked for the Ashland Corporation; 
and
	WHEREAS, This devoted couple have nurtured a strong bond of 
love for half a century, and the marriage they have built together 
remains an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Lester and Lanell Higgins on the 
joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to 
them best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Higgins as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
