H.R. No. 473
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lydia Whitewood Brown of Kerrville passed away on
June 24, 2002, at the age of 91, and the family and friends of this
esteemed lady have been deeply saddened by this great loss; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 14, 1911, on the Whitewood Ranch in
Gillespie County, Mrs. Brown attended school in Harper but spent
her last year of high school at Tivy High School in Kerrville, where
she graduated in 1929; and
WHEREAS, The former Miss Whitewood married W. B. "Red" Brown,
Jr., on July 27, 1934; blessed with three sons, they shared many
happy times and cherished family memories during their years
together; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Mrs. Brown was a valued
member of her community, and her memory will shine brightly in the
hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lydia W. Brown and
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons
and their wives, W. B. "Pinky" Brown III and his wife, JoAnn;
Spencer W. Brown and his wife, Wanda; and Kelby D. Brown and his
wife, Helen; to her grandchildren and their spouses, Bruce Brown
and his wife, Laura; Susanne Mooney and her husband, David; Spencer
W. Brown II and his wife, Rhonda; and Kelby D. Brown, Jr.; to her
five great-grandchildren, Brandt and Brian Mooney, Jordan Brown,
and Dillon and Faith Brown; and to her many other relatives and
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lydia
Brown.
