                                                                  H.R. No. 474


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of J. Y. Little of Abilene on May 4, 2002, brought a great loss to the family and many friends of this beloved gentleman; and WHEREAS, A lifelong Texan, he was born in Wilmer on March 8, 1904, to proud parents Judge Carson and Ella Little; and WHEREAS, In 1925, Mr. Little married Ora Carpenter, who passed away in 1928; two years later, he married Alyeene Ault of Weslaco and the couple shared 60 years together before her passing; and WHEREAS, In November 1992, Mr. Little married Mattie Rhoden, and she survives him; and WHEREAS, He moved to Kerrville in 1927 and began working for the C. C. Butt Grocery Company, which would later become the H-E-B Grocery Company; he retired as a store manager in 1969 but continued to work with H-E-B as manager of the H-E-B Lodge in Kerrville until he retired again, having served 55 years with H-E-B and holding the record as the employee with the most years of service with the company; and WHEREAS, A man of faith, Mr. Little was ordained as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Weslaco in 1930 and served in this capacity at other churches in towns where he and his family lived; he also helped to establish the Trinity Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, A number of groups benefitted from his participation, and they in turn enriched his life; an active member of the Kiwanis Club, he was also a Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Knight Templar, and a Shriner; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, faith, and community, J. Y. Little will long be missed, but his memory lives on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor the life of J. Y. Little of Kerrville and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Mattie Rhoden Little; to his daughters, Mary Nell Froelich and husband Jim, and Patsy Stephenson; to his sister, Mamie Dee Ault; to his sisters-in-law Helen Ault and Dot Boothe; to his grandchildren, Kay and David Taft, Carol and Dick Davis, Jamie and Steve Stokes, Danny Stephenson, David and Kayla Stephenson, and Donna and David Kilgo; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J.
