R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dr. William Elizondo of San Antonio has been awarded 
the Ambassador for Peace medal and certificate by the Korean 
Veterans Association; and
	WHEREAS, This award is presented to American combat 
servicemen and United Nations soldiers who served to defend and 
protect the freedom of the people of Korea; and
	WHEREAS, Today a doctor of optometry in San Antonio, Dr. 
Elizondo is also a dedicated civic leader who has been a member of 
the Texas Council of Major School Districts and is a four-time 
president of the San Antonio Independent School District; his 
receipt of this prestigious honor comes as no surprise to those who 
have been privileged to know this esteemed gentleman throughout the 
years; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Elizondo joined the United States Marine Corps 
in 1948 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California; he later 
served with valor in the Korean War, where he earned the 
Presidential Unit Award; and
	WHEREAS, Throughout his rich and productive life, Dr. 
Elizondo has shown himself to be a man of integrity and courage, and 
he is truly a worthy recipient of the Ambassador for Peace medal; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate William Elizondo on being named an 
Ambassador for Peace and extend to him sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness and success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Dr. Elizondo as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
