R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Sandra Gonzalez was recently named the Boys & Girls 
Clubs of Edinburg Rio Grande Valley 2003 Youth of the Year, and she 
remains in the running for the state, regional, and national Youth 
of the Year awards; and
	WHEREAS, Selected from among 6,000 club members based on her 
superior leadership skills, academic achievement, and outstanding 
service to the Boys & Girls Clubs and the community, Ms. Gonzalez 
was one of seven young people to represent the nine clubs of 
Edinburg as a Youth of the Year contestant; and
	WHEREAS, A dedicated member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of 
Edinburg Rio Grande Valley for three years, this talented young 
woman has given freely of her time and energy to numerous club 
activities; she is a positive role model for her peers, working as a 
junior staff member at the TEENSupreme Center and maintaining 
active involvement with the Teen Court program and the TEENSupreme 
Keystone Club; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez has consistently sought to develop her 
organizational and leadership skills; through her attendance at 
club training opportunities, she has gained valuable experience and 
perspective on issues facing teens in her community; and
	WHEREAS, A junior at Edinburg North High School, this notable 
young lady is enrolled in advanced placement courses and ranks in 
the top 25 percent of her class; she maintains a high grade point 
average and will graduate under the Distinguished Achievement Plan; 
and
	WHEREAS, A gifted young woman of great poise and promise, Ms. 
Gonzalez demonstrates the initiative and maturity of a born leader 
and she is well on her way to a bright and promising future; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Sandra Gonzalez on being named Boys &
 Girls Clubs of Edinburg Rio Grande Valley 2003 Youth of the Year 
and extend to her sincere best wishes for success in the state, 
regional, and national Youth of the Year competitions; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
