R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, When Flo Edgerly of Bridge City stepped down as justice of the peace for Precinct 3 on January 1, 2003, she brought to a close a distinguished 22-year career in that office; and WHEREAS, In 1982, Judge Edgerly was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Judge Martin Ardoin; reelected numerous times in the ensuing years, she consistently maintained the highest possible standards of performance, conducting the business of her office with fairness, integrity, and compassion; and WHEREAS, Judge Edgerly earned the lasting respect of her colleagues and fellow citizens for her thoroughness and dedication; she worked tirelessly to fulfill her duties, which have ranged from attending pronouncements of death to reprimanding truant schoolchildren, but no matter how daunting the task, she still found the strength to comfort those who have suffered and to provide answers to their questions in their time of need; and WHEREAS, In recognition of Judge Edgerly's contributions to the Bridge City Fire and Rescue Department, especially in the areas of rapid response and administrative assistance, the department named its rescue boat the Miss Flo; and WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother as well, she has been supported in her many endeavors by her husband, Gene, and their two sons, Todd and John; and WHEREAS, This remarkable Texan has served the residents of Precinct 3 with the utmost distinction, and she may take great pride in knowing that she has made a positive difference in the lives of countless individuals through her outstanding public service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Flo Edgerly for her exemplary tenure as Precinct 3 justice of the peace in Bridge City and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge Edgerly as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
