R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Highland Park High School girls' swim team won the 2003 Class 4A state championship, proving to be a group of superb athletes and tough competitors while establishing a remarkable record of consistency; and WHEREAS, Having claimed state titles in 2001 and 2002, the Highland Park team continued its climb to prominence in the sport of swimming by winning 8 of 11 events to clinch the top place in this year's competition; in earning this stellar victory, these superb swimmers set three state records and five school records; and WHEREAS, Head coach Paul Priestner and assistant coach Madeline Maggard worked tirelessly to hone the swimming techniques of their charges, encouraging the development of a strong work ethic and inspiring a successful performance at the highest level of competition; and WHEREAS, These exemplary young women and their coaches are a tremendous source of pride to the students and faculty of Highland Park High School and to their supporters in the community, and they are most deserving of high praise for this recent accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park High School girls' swim team on becoming the 2003 Class 4A state champions and extend best wishes to the members of the team for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team members and coaching staff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
