R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Highland Park High School girls' cross-country
team has captured the 2003 Class 4A state championship, and this
outstanding accomplishment has earned the team great respect within
the Highland Park community; and
WHEREAS, One of the most successful high school teams in
Texas, the Highland Park girls' cross-country team has won 25
district championships, 24 regional championships, and 10 state
championships; and
WHEREAS, Schooled in track and field fundamentals by head
coach Jerry Sutterfield and assistant coaches Clint Ogilvie and
Holly Bishop, this talented team of student athletes epitomizes the
concepts of moral character, individual responsibility, and team
accountability instilled by the coaching staff; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Highland Park High School girls'
cross-country team have truly discovered the "Joy of the Journey,"
and the lessons they have learned throughout the course of the
season will surely remain with them always; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park High School
girls' cross-country team on its 2003 Class 4A state championship
and extend to the members and coaches of the team sincere best
wishes for continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
