R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Zach Riffett of Brenham has proven himself to be one of our state's most gifted student-athletes, and his remarkable accomplishments have deservedly earned him national recognition; and WHEREAS, A member of the Brenham Cubs soccer team, Mr. Riffett is a three-time All-American goalkeeper whose impressive list of accolades includes being named the 2002 National High School Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, an honor he was also accorded by Student Sports Magazine; in addition, he was selected as the 2002 Gatorade Texas High School Male Soccer Player of the Year; and WHEREAS, Mr. Riffett's extraordinary physical talents are complemented by his fierce determination to excel and his outstanding leadership ability; a standout in the classroom as well, he maintains a 3.3 grade point average and makes time in his busy schedule to participate in the Anchor Club, the Brenham Changers, a youth community improvement group, and the Christian Youth Ministry of St. Mary's Church; and WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Dennis and Mary Ann Riffett, Zach Riffett is an inspiration both on and off the playing field, and he may indeed look with optimism and anticipation toward a bright and promising future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Zach Riffett on his phenomenal athletic achievements in the sport of soccer and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Riffett as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
