R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texans today enjoy more choices than ever before as they seek to build wealth and plan for a strong financial future; and WHEREAS, Learning how to carefully manage and invest one's money is a critical step toward ensuring economic security; to assist Americans in developing an effective financial strategy, securities regulators, educators, consumer organizations, and financial industry associations have created the annual Facts on Saving and Investing Campaign; and WHEREAS, During the month of April 2003, public and private participants in this important campaign intend to distribute information designed to help Texans make informed financial decisions and to avoid becoming victims of financial fraud; and WHEREAS, In order to reach younger Texans, some of these educational efforts involve visits to schools to meet with teachers and students, as well as the development and distribution of a curriculum to supplement existing high school course work; and WHEREAS, The prosperity of the Lone Star State depends largely on individuals devoting the fruits of their hard work toward sound financial goals and avoiding fraudulent schemes and other pitfalls that threaten their financial well-being; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby recognize all the participants in the 2003 Facts on Saving and Investing Campaign for their efforts to help Texans plan for a prosperous future and encourage Texans of all ages and income levels to increase their financial savvy and save and invest wisely.
