R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The theater students of Spring Woods High School in 
Houston have been invited to perform at the International Thespian 
Society's Festival 2003 in Lincoln, Nebraska; and
	WHEREAS, This invitation is made to only a few schools in the 
nation each year by the International Thespian Society, an 
organization that honors students for outstanding work in theater; 
and
	WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of Terry Hibbert and Anne 
Yancey, the 82-member cast and crew comprised the first high school 
group in Texas to perform the award-winning musical Les Miserables; 
and
	WHEREAS, The students have received wide acclaim for the 
production, which opened in the fall of 2002; they have also 
performed in San Antonio and at the state Thespian Festival in 
Wichita Falls, and plans are currently underway to perform the show 
at a major Houston theater this summer; and
	WHEREAS, The remarkable success of the Spring Woods High 
School theater department is the direct result of the hard work, 
dedication, and discipline of its talented students and 
instructors, and their efforts are indeed worthy of praise; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate the Spring Woods High School 
theater students and their teachers on being selected to perform at 
the International Thespian Society's Festival 2003 and extend to 
them sincere best wishes for future success and happiness; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the students and their teachers as an expression of 
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
