R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 26 years, Tom Lucenay bravely served his community as a firefighter, and for his dedication to the Hewitt community he has been named the 2003 Hewitt Hero; and WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman joined the Hewitt Volunteer Fire Department shortly after moving to Hewitt in 1975 and went on to attain an enviable record of achievement, becoming fire chief after 10 years of service; he brought to that demanding position an unparalleled level of professionalism and commitment, making significant improvements to the department; and WHEREAS, A highly respected public servant, Mr. Lucenay was nominated by no fewer than three people for this notable award, and he has received high praise from many of his fellow citizens for his considerable efforts in support of his community; he attended the National Fire Academy twice, and he received the McLennan County Fire Protection W. A. Neel Memorial Firefighter of the Year award in 1993; and WHEREAS, Throughout more than a quarter-century, Tom Lucenay devoted himself to protecting lives and property from the devastating effects of fire; his courage and commitment have greatly benefited the Hewitt community, and this notable gentleman is truly worthy of the title Hewitt Hero; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor Tom Lucenay for being named the 2003 Hewitt Hero and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success in the years to come; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lucenay as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
