R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, March 13, 2003, marked the 60th wedding anniversary 
of Martiniano "Martin" Cardenas and Gloria Hilda Cardenas, and this 
momentous occasion is yet another highlight in a marriage filled 
with many cherished memories; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Cardenas and the former Gloria Hilda Ayala were 
wed in Mesilla, New Mexico, in 1943, and they lived for many years 
in Tornillo, Texas; today making their home near Socorro, Mr. 
Cardenas is a retired heavy operation conductor, while Mrs. 
Cardenas has been a devoted homemaker throughout their marriage; 
and
	WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loving family, they are the 
proud parents of five children, Gilbert Cardenas, Mary Downey, 
Antonia Campos, Gloria Carrillo, and Martin Cardenas; over the 
years, their family has also grown to include 15 beloved 
grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Throughout their six decades together, Mr. and Mrs. 
Cardenas have demonstrated a deep commitment to one another, to 
their family, and to the institution of marriage, and it is a 
privilege to join in honoring them at this time; now, therefore, be 
it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Martiniano "Martin" Cardenas and 
Gloria Hilda Cardenas on the joyous occasion of their 60th wedding 
anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued 
happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Cardenas as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
