R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, On April 5, 2003, the Knights of Peter Claver and the 
Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Council and Court 72, 
with Our Mother of Mercy Church in Houston, will host the 11th 
Annual Scholarship Recognition Luncheon and Fashion Gala; and
	WHEREAS, This event provides an opportunity to recognize this 
estimable nonprofit group, which has aided countless individuals 
throughout the years, particularly the economically disadvantaged, 
the sick, and the disabled, and has succeeded admirably in its goals 
to encourage and support higher education and to train and develop 
civic leaders; and
	WHEREAS, The dedicated men and women of this philanthropic 
association also raise and distribute funds for scholarships, 
entities such as the Sickle Cell Foundation and the United Negro 
College Fund, and numerous community projects; and
	WHEREAS, The fashion gala and recognition luncheon is one of 
the group's many exceptional events and an opportunity to name the 
scholarship recipients and to honor special members of the 
community;  this year's honorees include Dr. Margo Hilliard Alford, 
Rita D. Franks-Bell, Renee Llorens-Bossett, Jane Broussard, 
Algenita Scott-Davis, Dr. Steve Hall, Diane Hall, Shirley 
Jefferson, Theresa St. Julien, Paul H. Ledet, Jr., Burnell Ross 
Loche, Edward C. Loche, Elsa R. Phillips, Gene A. Phillips, Sr., 
Marva R. Pradier, Horace Prince, Dr. Sharon Sani, Falton Wiltz, and 
El Franco Lee; and
	WHEREAS, All the members of the Knights of Peter Claver and 
the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Council and Court 72 
are to be commended for their devotion to helping their fellow 
Texans, and it is a privilege to honor them as they celebrate a very 
special event; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commemorate the 11th Annual Scholarship 
Recognition Luncheon and Fashion Gala hosted by the Knights of 
Peter Claver and the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, 
Council and Court 72, with Our Mother of Mercy Church, and extend to 
all those associated with this fine organization warmest best 
wishes for a memorable and joyous occasion.
