R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, After nearly 25 years of loyal service, William M.
"Bill" Morgan retired from the Missouri City Police Department on
June 30, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Officer Morgan began his distinguished career on
September 20, 1976, as a reserve police officer; he later became a
full-time police officer and public safety officer; promoted to the
rank of sergeant on August 26, 1985, he served in the traffic
division, the patrol division, and the administrative division,
where he concluded his career as the community liaison officer; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a public safety officer, he
cross-trained in fire suppression and served as an arson
investigator and a K-9 officer; and
WHEREAS, Officer Morgan has been duly recognized for his
exemplary work with numerous letters of commendation and the
Meritorious Service Award, Texas State Commendation, and United
States Senate Commendation; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure with the Missouri City
Police Department, Officer Morgan demonstrated selfless dedication
and skillful exercise of duty, and he earned the lasting respect of
his colleagues and fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Officer Morgan may take great satisfaction in
knowing that the many contributions he made during more than two
decades on the Force will prove to be of enduring benefit to his
department and the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Officer William M. "Bill" Morgan on his
service to the people of Missouri City and extend to him warmest
best wishes for future success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Officer Morgan as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
