R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brian Allen Norwood retired from an outstanding
career with the Missouri City Police Department on October 31,
2001; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman began his tenure in the
field of public safety in Missouri City as a firefighter in 1981,
and he became a public safety officer for the fire department two
years later; he transferred to the police department in 1985 and
earned the rank of sergeant in 1999; and
WHEREAS, The department's first officer to partner with a
K-9, Sergeant Norwood held numerous other positions of
responsibility during his tenure on the force, including those of
field training officer, SWAT team member, and corporal; for his
fine work, he received a Meritorious Service Award and a VFW Life
Saving Award, and he was named Officer of the Year by the 100 Club;
and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary career, Sergeant
Norwood established a record of dedication, loyalty, bravery, and
self-sacrifice consistent with the highest ideals of the law
enforcement profession, and his myriad contributions to the public
welfare will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Brian Allen Norwood for his
distinguished career with the Missouri City Police Department and
extend to him sincere best wishes for a happy and rewarding
retirement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Norwood as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
