H.R. No. 568
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The August 1, 2002, retirement of Ronnie Joe
Hornischer, a warrant officer with the Missouri City Police
Department's criminal investigation division, brought to a close an
outstanding record of public service in behalf of his fellow
citizens; and
WHEREAS, A Vietnam veteran, Corporal Hornischer began his
career in law enforcement with the Missouri City Police Department
in 1971, earning the rank of lieutenant before leaving in 1975 to
join the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department, where he held the
posts of patrol deputy and detective; he returned to the patrol
division of the Missouri City Police Department in 1979, was
promoted to the rank of warrant officer the following year, and
would continue to devote himself to the betterment of the city over
the course of the next 22 years; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Hornischer attained his advanced peace
officer proficiency certification and was highly regarded for his
dedication to the duties of his office, receiving numerous letters
of commendation for his achievements; his professional and civic
affiliations have included the Texas Police Association, the Texas
Marshals Association, and the Missouri City Police Officers
Association, as well as Saint Theresa's Catholic Church and the
Knights of Columbus in Sugar Land; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary tenure on the
force, Corporal Hornischer established a record of meritorious
service, loyalty, bravery, and self-sacrifice consistent with the
highest ideals of the law enforcement profession, and his myriad
contributions will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Ronnie Joe Hornischer for his
distinguished career with the Missouri City Police Department and
extend to him warmest best wishes for a happy and fulfilling
retirement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hornischer as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
