R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dotty Woodson of Tarrant County has done an
outstanding job in her role as coordinator of the Junior Master
Gardener program; and
WHEREAS, Introduced by the Texas Cooperative Extension of
Tarrant County, the Junior Master Gardener program seeks to build
self-esteem, leadership, and character among at-risk youth while
promoting volunteerism and respect for the environment; and
WHEREAS, This innovative program has had a positive impact on
the lives of innumerable children, including students at
Morningside Elementary School, where more than 600 boys and girls
are learning the basics of horticulture; students at Joy James
Elementary are cultivating roses, strawberries, and peppers and use
the garden as a unique setting in which to study reading, writing,
math, and science; and
WHEREAS, Dotty Woodson, as coordinator of the Junior Master
Gardener program, has helped children in Tarrant County to develop
important skills and a lifelong appreciation for the environment,
and it is truly fitting that she be recognized at this time; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Dotty Woodson on her outstanding work
with the Junior Master Gardener program and extend to her sincere
best wishes for success and happiness in all future endeavors; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Woodson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
