R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On March 28, 2003, the family and many friends of the Reverend Dr. Prince Earl W. Bryant, Sr., of Houston are marking his 40th anniversary in the gospel ministry, and this joyous occasion provides an opportune time to reflect on his exemplary dedication to his church and community; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Concord High School in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, Dr. Bryant completed a Bible correspondence course offered by Ambassador College in Pasadena, California, and attended L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles, Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, and Angelina Junior College in Lufkin; in addition, he participated for 15 years in the continuing education program of Prairie View A&M University's Ministers' Conference and studied for his doctor of divinity degree at the Family Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado; and WHEREAS, Dr. Bryant has served six churches over the course of 34 years in the pastoral ministry, and today he shares his guidance and deep faith as the spiritual head of Anderson Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ and Livingston Memorial Church of God in Christ; and WHEREAS, A 28-year member of his church's jurisdictional board of directors, Dr. Bryant also currently handles the responsibilities of district superintendent, jurisdictional executive secretary, chief administrative assistant, president of the jurisdictional minister's and worker's institute, and chairman of the jurisdictional annual leadership conference; at the national level, Dr. Bryant is a member of the General Assembly Executive Committee, General Council of Pastors and Elders Judiciary Review Committee, and Commissions for Constitutional Convention Committee; and WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman's extensive civic involvement presently includes service as a community relations consultant with the Houston Police Department, chair of the Houston/Harris County Regional Substance Abuse Faith-Based Task Force Committee, and member of the Executive Committee of Houston Crackdown, Harris County Council of Organizations, and District Task Force Committee of the City Wide Club of America; he also serves on the executive board of the Ministers' Conference at Prairie View A&M University; and WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding contributions as a pastor and civic leader, Dr. Bryant has been presented the Jefferson Cup by Congressman Craig A. Washington; moreover, he has received an Excellence in Service Award from the United Ministers' Institute at Texas Southern University and other well-deserved accolades from Governor Ann Richards, the Texas Senate, the Harris County Commissioners Court, the City of Houston, and his church; additionally, Mayor Kathy Whitmire and Mayor Bob Lanier each proclaimed a Prince Bryant Day in the Bayou City; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Dr. Bryant and his wife, Yolanda, have rejoiced as their family has grown to include five children, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson; and WHEREAS, For four decades, this esteemed pastor has been a source of strength and inspiration for a great many people, and he is truly deserving of recognition as he celebrates this notable milestone in his career; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Dr. Prince Earl W. Bryant, Sr., on the memorable occasion of his 40th anniversary in the gospel ministry and extend to him warmest wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Bryant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
