H.R. No. 601


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Raul "Roy" Nunez of Houston on March 14, 2003, at the age of 81 has deeply saddened all who were privileged to know him over the course of his long and fruitful life; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Nunez was born in Houston on October 11, 1921; he married his childhood sweetheart, Olga Sanchez, on November 7, 1943, and over the years their cherished family grew to include three children, Roy, Elizabeth, and Sandra, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, and following the war, he returned to Houston, where he cofounded a successful freight forwarding company, J. P. Harle Forwarding; and WHEREAS, Roy Nunez was a man of integrity, dedication, and great devotion to his loved ones, and while he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Raul "Roy" Nunez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 59 years, Olga; to his children and their spouses, Roy David and his wife, Gail, Elizabeth Coy and her husband, Duane, and Sandra Wakeman; to his sisters, Beatrice Martinez, Carlotta Hernandez, and Mary Villarreal; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Raul "Roy" Nunez.
