H.R. No. 629


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The silver insignia of the Eagle Scout was conferred on Zachary Lane Borders at his Court of Honor ceremony on May 1, 2002; and WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor, one bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Borders earned 21 merit badges and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community, which involved working to improve the site and facilities of Foundry United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, Throughout his scouting career, Mr. Borders has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability, serving his fellow scouts as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, troop guide, assistant senior patrol leader, and chaplain's aide; in addition, he received the Arrow of Light Award, the God and Church Award, and the World Conservation Award; and WHEREAS, An honor student at Cypress Falls High School and trombone section leader for the school's band, Mr. Borders is a member of the National Honor Society and the UM Army and is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students; and WHEREAS, His dedication to excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven Eagle Scout Borders worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and it is most appropriate that he be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Zachary Lane Borders on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Borders as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
