H.R. No. 630
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Del Rio lost a beloved neighbor,
friend, and businessman with the passing of Donato B. Guajardo,
Sr., on August 1, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Guajardo served as a military police sergeant
for the United States Army during World War II; when he returned
from the service, he married Ernestina D. Guajardo, and the couple
enjoyed a rich and rewarding marriage; and
WHEREAS, In 1949, he earned his funeral directors and
embalmers license, and he opened his first funeral home in 1968;
over the years, he owned and operated six facilities in Del Rio,
Brackettville, Uvalde, Lubbock, and Lamesa; and
WHEREAS, Recognized by the Texas Funeral Directors
Association for 50 years of outstanding service in the funeral
industry, Mr. Guajardo was a man of integrity and dedication, and
while he is greatly missed, his memory lives on in the hearts and
minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Donato B. Guajardo,
Sr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
his cherished wife, Ernestina D. Guajardo; to his children, Donato
B. Guajardo, Jr., Ronald Joe Guajardo, and Dianna Delmira Martinez;
to his brothers and sisters, Petronilo Guajardo, Juan Guajardo,
Jesusita Sanchez, Esperanza Camp, and Julia Guajardo; to his
grandchildren, Donna Guajardo, Tamye Martinez, Brenda Martinez,
Crissy Martinez, Farah Martinez, Stephanie Ortega, Lorena
Martinez, Don Guajardo III, Briana Guajardo, Tomas Martinez III,
Joe Ron Martinez, Ronald Joe Guajardo, Jr., and Stephen Alexander
Guajardo; to his two great-grandchildren; and to his other
relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Donato B.
Guajardo, Sr.
