H.R. No. 631
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Del Rio lost a beloved neighbor and
friend with the passing of Sylvia Cristina Morales Urby on February
14, 2003; and
WHEREAS, A native of Del Rio, Mrs. Urby graduated from Sacred
Heart Academy in 1950, and she went on to serve as a teacher,
principal, and high school counselor in the community for 32 years;
and
WHEREAS, Outside the classroom, this esteemed Texan gave
generously of her time and talents to help others; she was a
councilwoman for the City of Del Rio for four years and taught
citizenship classes in both Del Rio and Rocksprings for a decade; in
addition, she was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Urby was a woman of commitment, integrity, and
compassion, and while she is greatly missed, her memory will live on
in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives she touched;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Sylvia Cristina
Morales Urby and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
family: to her husband of 49 years, Rodolfo T. Urby; to her sons and
daughters-in-law, Rodolfo M. Urby, Jr., and his wife, Dolores, John
Anthony Urby and his wife, Sally, Mark Alan Urby and his wife,
Julie, and David Charles Urby and his wife, Ella; to her
grandchildren, Andres, Joaquin, Amaris, Amado, Selena, Alejandro,
John, Alyssa, Sarah, Kimberly, David Jr., and Kristin Urby; to her
sisters, Concha Arredondo, Jane Stallings, and Grace Peña; and to
her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sylvia
Cristina Morales Urby.
