R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Marta E. Galindo, a first-grade teacher at Ruben
Chavira Elementary School in Del Rio, has achieved outstanding
success as an educator, and her exceptional efforts in that regard
have earned the well-deserved recognition she received when she was
named 2001-2002 Texas State Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Selected from a pool of six distinguished finalists,
Ms. Galindo is the first teacher from San Felipe Del Rio
Consolidated Independent School District to be named Texas State
Teacher of the Year; she received her accolade and personal
congratulations from President George W. Bush at a Washington,
D.C., reception given in honor of all 50 state award winners; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Galindo graduated from Sul Ross State University
with two degrees, including a master of education; she has taught at
Chavira Elementary School for 19 years and specializes in
developing reading skills and assisting children with disciplinary
difficulties; and
WHEREAS, Through her enthusiasm, personal involvement, and
unwavering commitment to education, Ms. Galindo has motivated her
students to learn and excel; she has consistently exemplified the
highest ideals of her profession and has ably represented the Lone
Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Marta E. Galindo on her selection
as 2001-2002 Texas Teacher of the Year and extend to her warmest
best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Galindo as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
