H.R. No. 638


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The death of Val Verde county commissioner Frank Coronado on January 25, 2003, at the age of 67, has brought a great loss to the many admirers of this esteemed man; and WHEREAS, Born December 5, 1935, in Del Rio, Mr. Coronado graduated from San Felipe High School before earning his bachelor's degree in government and pursuing graduate studies at San Jose State University; a certified administrative law hearing officer since 1977, he was a highly respected member of the California Board of Prison Terms for more than two decades, as well as an active member of such worthy organizations as the American G.I. Forum, the Knights of Columbus, the Governor's Minority Appointees Committee, and the Governor's Hispanic Appointees Caucus; and WHEREAS, Following his retirement, this accomplished public servant returned to his native Del Rio, where he reestablished himself as a community leader and was elected to the office of Val Verde county commissioner for Precinct 1; and WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know Frank Coronado will not soon forget the humor, intelligence, and commitment he brought to every aspect of his life, and, although his presence is gone from us now, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched during his years on this earth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank Coronado and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his children and their spouses, Rosie and Ramon Castro, Rebecca and Carlos Torres, Kelly Ray and Maricela Coronado, Laurie Cootz, Alvino and Belinda Martinez, and Frank Coronado, Jr.; to his 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Justin, Benjamin, Jessica, Rebecca, Carlitos, Giovanni, Nicole Alyce, and Brandi Michelle; to his brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Christina Coronado, Rudy Coronado, Esteban and Nina Coronado, and Joe and Leticia Coronado; and to his many other friends and relatives; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Frank Coronado.
