H.R. No. 645
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chas Skelly of Azle High School has achieved a
pinnacle of success by winning the 2003 UIL state wrestling
championship in the 140-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, Having earned two silver medals in three previous
trips to the state tournament, he entered the 2003 meet determined
to take home the coveted state title; Mr. Skelly faced defending
state champion Keegan Mueller of Highland Park High School in the
final match, and although hampered by a cut, he refused to be
denied, winning 6-0 to claim the gold medal; and
WHEREAS, For his remarkable efforts, Mr. Skelly was selected
outstanding wrestler at the 2003 meet, and he also led Azle to a
fifth-place finish in the overall team standings; and
WHEREAS, This talented athlete's accomplishments are a
source of great pride to the students and staff at Azle High School,
and it is indeed appropriate that he receive special legislative
recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Chas Skelly on winning the 2003 UIL
state wrestling championship in the 140-pound weight class and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Skelly as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
