H.R. No. 650
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation
District (MCSWCD) was selected as the state's Outstanding
Conservation District for 2002 by the Texas Soil and Water
Conservation Board, and this prestigious honor is indeed
well-deserved; and
WHEREAS, In the face of growing urbanization in Montgomery
County, the MCSWCD works to promote soil and water conservation
through stewardship and education programs for landowners and
schoolchildren; and
WHEREAS, To achieve its enviable record of success, the
organization has worked in concert with a variety of other
entities, such as local schools, the Boy Scouts of America, and the
United States Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS, Current MCSWCD board members Robert McGehee, T. W.
Register, Gary Calfee, Stuart Traylor, and John E. Mauney have
volunteered their time and energy to successfully implement the
district's many programs and initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Safeguarding our state's water and soil resources is
essential to providing a promising future for the generations of
Texans to come, and those who devote themselves to meeting this
vital goal are worthy of special legislative recognition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Montgomery County Soil and
Water Conservation District on being named the state's Outstanding
Conservation District for 2002; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of the MCSWCD board of directors as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
