R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Reagan Vertical Team Festival of the Arts 2003 is being held at John H. Reagan High School in Houston on April 4, 2003, and this event is truly worthy of special recognition; and WHEREAS, Now in its third year, the annual festival is designed to strengthen community and school relationships while promoting the importance of the arts in public education; and WHEREAS, Approximately 10,000 students from 16 schools make up the Reagan Vertical Team, and the gathering will provide many of these young people with the opportunity to showcase their various artistic and creative abilities; and WHEREAS, This year's event hosts performances by area professional arts organizations and features representatives from community, civic, philanthropic, and business sectors who are providing information on various health, education, and family services programs; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by The Robert and Janice McNair Foundation and the Cultural Arts Council for Houston and Harris County, the Festival of the Arts 2003 is an inspiring event that will leave a lasting impression on all who attend; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with the Reagan Vertical Team Festival of the Arts 2003 on their efforts to promote artistic expression among our next generation of Texans and extend to them sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the organizers of the event as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
