R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ernie Dominguez of Mercedes received a great honor
when his fellow students at Southwest Texas State University
(SWTSU) in San Marcos named him the 2002 Homecoming King; and
WHEREAS, A native of Mercedes, Mr. Dominguez graduated in
2000 from Mercedes High School, where he participated in FFA and
competed in cross-country, football, basketball, and baseball; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dominguez, a junior at SWTSU, is majoring in
communication studies and minoring in leadership studies; this
industrious young man maintains an active membership in the Bobcat
Fanatics, University Ambassadors, Pride and Tradition Task Force,
and University Council, and he also teaches a weekly laboratory
class in the speech communication department; and
WHEREAS, Encouraged by the Bobcat Fanatics to run for
Homecoming King, Mr. Dominguez took possession of the title at the
coronation ceremony held during Homecoming Week; presented with the
traditional sash and scepter, he ably filled the role of king
throughout the week's festivities, which included the Homecoming
Parade, a pep rally, and a soapbox derby; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dominguez is a source of great pride to his
family and his hometown and an outstanding representative for the
student body of Southwest Texas State University with a bright
future ahead of him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ernie Dominguez on being voted
Homecoming King at Southwest Texas State University and extend to
him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Dominguez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
