R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A delegation of students, teachers, and parents from Col. John O. Ensor Middle School in El Paso visited the State Capitol on March 20, 2003, to learn more about the seat of Texas government firsthand; and WHEREAS, Those who participated in the trip included: the school's gifted and talented program coordinator, Veronica Sánchez; teachers Rose Colleng, Ray Gomez, Mary Mendoza, Anna Munoz, Armando Sánchez, Bryan Shaw, and Celia Twomey; parents Yvonne Ayala, Carlos Berumen, Yolanda Garcia, Kelly Hulsey, Janette Lieurance, Monica Marquez, Manuel Reyes, Irma Urquidi, and Thomas Vanne; eighth-grade students Victor Anaya, Nicole Candelaria, Paul Chavez, Brenda Esparza, Danielle Faulkner, Kari Hulsey, Asley Lieurance, Nancy Medina, James Pharr, Emily Rush, Vanessa Tena, Gerardo Urbina, and Nickolas Widtfeldt; seventh-grade students John Colleng, Demian Garcia, Alex Maguregui, Andrea Rodriguez, Frederick Tan, Analycia Villareal, and Shannah Widtfeldt; sixth-grade students Cesar Allende, Lauren Blackwell, Jacob Bryan, Celia Campos, Alisa Cook, Celeste Correa, Veronica Fernandez, Lisett Gallegos, Leo Gamboa, Michael Garay, Chris Gunning, Rocky Hardee, Ernie Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Oscar Mendoza, Mariel Ochoa, Kayla Pedroza, Reyna Ponce, Anthony Regalado, Jaime Reyes, Griselda Salas, Jessica L. Sanchez, Tammi Schuller, Jennifer Swanson, Cassandra Vanne, and Bethany Urquidi; and fifth-grade students Gerizim Ayala, Amanda Twomey, and Mariah Yelverton; and WHEREAS, With the 78th Legislative Session well underway, the Capitol Complex is a source of great activity, offering visitors an excellent opportunity to see their state government functioning at its dynamic best; and WHEREAS, This noteworthy group of youngsters and their sponsors had a chance to tour the Capitol and learn the fascinating history of this monument to freedom and democracy; in addition, the outstanding collection of art and documentation housed on the Capitol grounds provided an exceptional source of information for those interested in the role of state government and the chronicles of our great state; and WHEREAS, The magnificent Capitol, with its impressive rotunda and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young and old alike to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and to gain insight into the workings of our state legislature; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend the students, teachers, and parents from Col. John O. Ensor Middle School on their interest in state government; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
