R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Brock High School boys' basketball team has
again attained the pinnacle of success by winning the 2003 UIL Class
2A state championship, the school's second state title in as many
years; and
WHEREAS, Facing Hitchcock High School in the championship
game, Brock took to the floor at the Erwin Center in Austin
determined to retain its state crown, which it did in resounding
fashion with an 81-52 victory; and
WHEREAS, Although each player made significant contributions
to the team's overall success, several Eagles also garnered
well–deserved individual distinction; chosen for the
all-tournament team were Brady Deaver, Jace Walker, and T. W.
Aaron, who was also named the tournament's most valuable player;
and
WHEREAS, Head coach Jeff Bell provided outstanding
leadership and guidance to his young charges, and his remarkable
efforts have brought Brock High School to the threshold of becoming
a basketball dynasty; and
WHEREAS, With the Brock girls' basketball team also winning
back-to-back state championships, the school becomes only the
second in Texas history to have both squads win consecutive titles;
and
WHEREAS, These exceptional student-athletes, with their
coaches and staff, are a source of great pride to the students and
faculty at Brock High School, as well as their many supporters in
the community, and it is truly appropriate that the team's
accomplishments receive special legislative recognition at this
time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Brock High
School boys' basketball team on winning the 2003 UIL Class 2A state
championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for prominent display at Brock High School as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
